Roof Cleaning & Moss Removal
Roof Scrape in Canterbury — Moss Removal & Biocide Treatment
Over to Canterbury for this one, and a roof that had seen years of moss build up across the tiles. Left alone, moss does more than just look untidy — it holds moisture against the tiles, works its way under the edges and down into the gutters, and over time can lead to damp and blocked drainage. The customer wanted it cleared properly, so that's exactly what we did.
After erecting our own tower scaffold for safe, stable access, we set about scraping the moss off by hand and clearing it right back. Doing it by hand, rather than blasting it with high pressure, means the tiles aren't damaged or stripped of their surface in the process. It's slower, but it's the right way to treat a roof like this. Once it was clear of growth, we treated the whole thing with a biocide, which carries on working long after we've packed up and left — killing off the remaining spores and slowing down how quickly the moss comes back.
The photo of the moss we took off really says it all. You don't realise just how much is up there until it's piled on the ground in front of you. A proper transformation, and a roof that's clean, clear and protected going forward.
