Roof Cleaning & Moss Removal
Roof Clean in Ditton — Moss & Algae Gone
Another roof sorted this week, this time over in Ditton.
The concrete tiles had taken on a good few years of moss, algae and general weathering. You could barely make out the colour of the tiles under all the green, and clumps of moss were sitting in the grooves and starting to work their way towards the gutters, which is when it starts causing real problems.
First job was access. Rather than balancing ladders or hiring in expensive scaffolding, we brought in our own scaffold tower and set it up alongside the roof. That gives us a safe, stable platform to work from and means we can reach right up to the ridge and around the chimney properly, without rushing or taking chances.
From there we steam cleaned the whole roof, gently working across the tiles to lift the moss and grime away without the high pressure that can damage or dislodge them. You can see the difference in the photos: the cleaned tiles come up a lovely warm reddish-brown, while the untouched section is still dark and green. Once the roof was cleared we treated it with a biocide, which carries on working after we've left, killing off the remaining spores and slowing down how quickly the moss comes back.
The result is a roof that looks years younger and is far better protected going forward, and a job done safely and tidily from start to finish.
